I looking for players stories on improvement and the methods they used. We all know the Michael De Maza theory and story, but I'm wondering what other people have used and done, and their results.
After reading a bit, I've set a specific goal which is ambitious but reasonable (improve from 1300 to 1500 in a year). I have a first set of specifics I'm doing, but I'm also curious about other's methods.
Personally I think a specific rating goal is unimportant and not actually that specific. A more specific (and important goal imop) would be to improve upon your closed position play, tactics or opening against e4 etc. Pay no heed to your rating other than to recognize that it goes up as your understanding of certain aspects of the game goes up.
