In this position which is the best option?

Option 1 or Option 2?
 
Just to give a brief background this position is from a daily game that is currently ONGOING. Its already moved past this position and I went with option 1. The point is not to cheat and get help. If I wanted to cheat I would simply use an engine instead of posting in a forum.
 
Cheating is definitely not the reason for posting here. If nothing else I would just hide the fact that its a currently active game and seek advice. So all the facts are before you and please keep that in mind when replying.
 
 
 
As I said I have already chosen option 1 and the game has continued beyond the point. However the position seemed very intriguing when I was playing it. I looked at those two options after the move 4.Nd4.
 
I saw the line but I was unsure which one was the better option. I played 5.Nxe5 still not sure what I will do on move 8. Option 2 seemed very intriguing as the knight seems trapped, and I could be a piece up, which is better than being 2 pawns up.
 
However I just wasn't sure that the knight was definitely trapped. So I went with option 1.
 
I would normally put this in an engine at the end of the game and seek the answer to this question. But its a daily game which could last for a while yet. The position was so intriguing and so I would just like to know now.

So you seem to understand that consulting an engine even to look at a position that has been "moved past" is cheating, but somehow miss that asking for advice before the game is over is cheating just the same? So if somebody consults an engine to give their advice it's ok because they did it, not you? 

I don't doubt that you aren't seeking to gain an unfair advantage and so it doesn't feel like cheating to you, but it is.  No honorable player would discuss your game while it is still in progress. Once the game is over, it's an interesting position that would be fine to discuss at length.

Look I presented all facts, the position has moved well past that position and discussing it is not going to affect the game.

 

However still I felt it right to inform that the game is going on. With this knowledge you are free to discuss the position or not.

 

You chose not to, which is fine.
