Uhohspaghettio: it's a harmless facetious remark; it's just that I couldn't help picturing that coming right out of a romantic chess movie (though the whole two guys thing was a bit of a stretch Tongue out).

At the risk of feeding the troll, Heinzie had not addressed you until your post #33 where you first attacked him. It is an occupational hazard of doing so that people may answer back.

All this time, I thought our canned macaroni friend had left chess for good.

I never said for good, I said I was taking a break.

From the long farewell speech:

"I'm sure some day I'll come back to it... just for a few games. I'm going to try to wait until at least July for that. I'll be back with my mediocre chess skills some day alright, but not for too long. And for now, I think it's time to say goodbye"

And it's not even January yet! Come on, give us a break.

I'm glad you didn't leave for good.

Ignore the other troll/silly post, despite the attidues of much of today's youth, not all expressions of mutual appreciation revolve around sexuality.

On the forums, it's definitely on the weird side.

And as Spudnik said, you do need to admit that the post about quitting has very little resemblance of what you actually did.

Uh Oh, Elubas, it's not like spaghettio drowned in his chemical/tomato sauce! He's still around, and not going to appreciate admitting thingsSurprisedLaughing

I think the problem is that he is a different person every day, if not every hour. Any admission that he makes today, even a sincere one, will be false tomorrow.

I seemed to have anticipated uh oh's response incorrectly. But, atos, does the word "sincere" denote any future context? When one says, "He sincerely loves me", does that actually mean that that statement is tested daily?Smile

When your performance has improved N-fold from your original skill level.

Possibly not future context, but at the very least it assumes that there is an internal reality that makes the statement (eg admission of love) sincere or otherwise. In some cases, there may be no internal reality.

Only if that "internal reality" comports itelf through duration, is it sincere?

Well, usually you say "I love you," not "I am loving you ATM".

Yes. Sincerity, in love, is as temporary as uh oh's promisesLaughing

ATM--automated teller machine; what most women look at me as, and they do say, "I love you ATM."  It's like, just recently at Christmas, I told her, "Here's my wallet.  Spend my money, just tell me when I'm done shopping."

gorgeous_vulture

I remember studying asynchronous transfer mode many moons ago in college. I had to pretend to know something about for a job interview once

Well, that seems like a more lasting, sincere type of loveLaughing

A lasting, sincere love is true in our marriage. We are celebrating our 15th wedding anniversary today! We actually love one another!

Besides that, we play chess together, too. What more could a chessplayer ask for?

If I could bet against the success of marriages, I would be a billionaire! But no "bookie" is that desperate.Laughing

That reminds me of an interview with John Paul Getty I saw years ago when he was the richest man in the world,  He said, "I would give everything I have for a happy marriage." Wow, I thought, I have what he wants, a happy marriage.  I was married at that time to my first wife, who lated died.

But I can trulys say the same for my present marriage.  I have much to be thankful for.

By the way I wasn't even the one who first suggested that "class C" is where you cease to be a beginner - I was merely combining a few elements that were brought up earlier in the thread. "Beginner" isn't so much related to ratings I think. Beginner is where you still have to ask on which squares the queens start and how the board is rotated. I think. And there's nothing wrong with being a beginner.

I do think class C is where you start to learn about the game of chess, and learning what you need to do in order to gain a higher rating (that's what everyone appears to want). So I stand by the "start learning" comment... if I am allowed to do that... even if it's a little bit vague.

I think for you I am a representative of the group of arrogant not-chess.com-live-blitz-chessplayers against who you oppose so much. That's fine with me, but remember we're brothers in arms, we have more or less the same chess strength and both of us are tedious forum trolls. The only difference is that I am the harmless joking type of troll, and from the few messages I've read, you appear to be the dead serious type of troll (even where you were saying that you will beat Carlsen :p). And when you decide to write me off based on three poorly written forum posts, you seem serious as well. That's all fine with me, it's your choice. If you don't understand when I'm joking and disapprove of me, what do I have left here to tell you?
