For those who still don't believe that people put the wrong flag on their profile, here is proof: There are 1,227 players who claim to be from the Vatican, but the Vatican had only about 800 people...

That may be why I play guys and joke about their country of origin, and they don't get the joke b/c they are not even from that country.

Avatar of jdh1

That seems highly unlikely that they are all multiaccounts. There's so many more than the real population that suggestion is ridiculous

Avatar of jdh1

And yes that is probably why they don't understand your humor

Well yeah, you can pick any country you want when you sign up, there's no verification process. But it's still safe to assume most people choose their actual country.

Avatar of jdh1

I agree. But clearly there are a lot of jokesters who pick unusual countries

Well my flag is not available. So I have to play under another flag, a country that I have never been to but I feel closely related.

800 living people, you mean. The rest are probably accounts left open in memory of those who Hailed their last Mary.

That is in no way a safe assumption.

some people in Quebec don't associate as Canadians, just like a lot of Catalans would never put a Spanish flag on their profile

It is not about independence. I would rather put it this way. A flag can represent an independent State recognized by other international subjects. That is probably the most common definition understood by most people. But it can also symbolize other things such as peace, historical events, communities and of course nations. My flag is the symbol of my identity, the nation that I belong to, that I feel connected to because of my past, and because of the past of my ancestors, because of my language and culture.

Canada is a federation and a federation is the union of more than one community who decide to unite together for a common goal or because they share the same values, but federalism is also a mechanism by which diversity can be reconciled with unity. I think in a federation there is room for more than one nation. And that's how I want it to be. The largest ethnic group doesn't have to impose its view on the smallest ones.

I agree with what you said, but unfortunately I doubt they will implement this

It takes time of course but we will get there one day. Other States have successfully reach that kind of mutual respect.
