I just laugh and block the member. The loss must have really really really hurt. Ha!

Apparently people on this site think it's okay to curse at random people for no reason
""The loss must have really really really hurt""

I don't mind losing at all, the problem is being called a lot of things by a random dude, especially after losing, what's the need for that anyways?? if a someone is rude to other people and the best thing you have to say about this is "just laugh and block him" you are not helping at all and and are kind of colluding with this type of behavior.

For some people here i just have to accept being insulted and not get mad about it, and i am wrong for exposing this type of behavior meh seriously, what's wrong with these people

It's good that you reported him. Chess.com does take action. If you look at the monthly reports, you can see how many accounts are muted and closed for abusive actions. Last month, it was more than 100,000.

Threads don't get removed unless they egregiously violate site rules.

Did you know that you can block other users from posting on the threads you start? (If you don't want to see a lot more of the relatively mild abuse being heaped on you.)

Brikwall

Wow. I stupidly thought this site was for the betterment of our chess game... Silly me.
Anyone who is abusive in chat should be banned full stop. That includes chat room threads about other chats!

How hard is it to be civil?

Brikwall

quoting the advice in the box - "Please be relevant and be kind". Perhaps some peeps need to re-read that...

Is just if the mods are annoyed at the topic they’ll lock it
Criticize chess.com and they’ll remove it

There are certain topics that merit locking a thread. Cheating accusations and discussions of cheating in general are the main ones.

This one is so far not one of those.

This one came from a user who believes that reporting doesn't work. I tried to convince him that hundreds of thousands of accounts are muted and closed every month for abuse.

How many of those mutes are the results of errors made by a bot? I’m guessing a substantial number having been victimized twice myself by the bot. Both times I was forbidden from quoting someone else who managed to post objectionable language without consequence.

Some people here are being really nasty in the comments, not exactly sure why, maybe they just troll

Ziryab

What does seem to be fully appropriate is creating a thread that calls out a particular member in a thread devoted to criticizing him/her/them.

Yes, there are trolls. A few were attracted to this thread.

Like I said, you can't make the old comments go away but blocking prevents those people from making any more comments in threads you have started or from messaging you. (You can do it. I can't.)
