Reverse.
Some players have problems with playing certain styles/people. The ratings can be similar but you might find one particular opponent tougher than expected. Or, that player just had a really good game and was very familiar with how that particular game played out.
No, it was an opening that I liked, I was black in a Reversed Sicilian. I will post the game soon. I made a mistake at move 14 or so, probably pressure-induced, so I won't blame myself so much there. My opponent was playing "perfectly". My opponent flawlessly exploited the mistake and seemed to have not made a single mistake throughout the game. (Or, at least one I could have exploited.)

Toughest "1800" I have ever played. Estimated his rating at 2000-2100 at first.

Last Sunday I went to my local chess club.
I was paired with a guy whose rating I did not know. (For some reason I didn't get to see the sheets.)
After 10 or so moves of play I was being reminded of an NM I played in Feburary.
His moves were filled with pressing accuracy, and I couldn't keep up, despite all my diabolical ideas, he couldn't be taken down.
After 15 moves I was completely lost. Resistance was futile.
After the game we decided to go over the game together. He first said he was 2200. I completely believed him instantly.
A bit later, he said he was kidding and said he was 1800, my rating. I asked if he was playing a lot recently and he said, "no".
I guess he was simply way underrated due to lack of playing. Or was I way overrated? I have been around the 1800 level for over a year and found no regular A player plays as well as my opponent did.
