Is calculation more important than intuition in chess?

Sometimes I rely too much on “feeling” a move is good instead of calculating deeply. At our level, do you think intuition can be trusted, or should we always try to calculate as much as possible?

"Our level"? You are rated 1100 in rapid. I presume that your level of intuition versus calculation is radically different from that of a 100-rated player or a 2100.

How much calculation depends on the time control.

At our level, we can only calculate up to a certain number of moves and not deeply enough. Grandmasters and titled players calculate much deeper than the rest of us. This and the level of their chess understanding, skill and experience plus their ability to see instantly the best moves and plans in a given position (the result of their established pattern recognition) are what separate them from us who are not professionals. They (professionals) are a complete package (calculation and intuition combined). Some are better in calculation (like Gukesh) and some are better with intuition (like Magnus) as Magnus had confessed in one of his interviews. But at some point in the game you have to use your intuition than calculation and vice versa.

Intuition can definitely be deadly, especially if it turns out to be scarily accurate. It's quicker than trying to calculate and can lead the opponent to panic, causing them to play poor moves, even if the other player's moves aren't exactly very good.

Mikhail Tal is by far the most obvious example of an "intuitive" player, and many noobs tend to play a lot like he did (albeit without his skill). Frequent speed chess players can also become dangerous users of intuition, as they are practically required to use it if they don't want to run out of time.

you should use intuition for bullet controls but also when youre short of time.calculation would be used with controls like rapid and over

At your level, talking about calculation and intuition? laughable and ridicoulous. At 1000 it's more like : Blundering vs Mistakes lol. And it's just online rapid, you know what real chess is? Classical tournaments. with 90+30 time contr.

Intuition is based on internal information processing which is also a sort of "calculation" and depends on experience, often confused with "guessing"
