I think the level of physical fitness required obviously makes it a sport.
Obviously it's a martial art.
Neither, I think chess is a hobby.
steroid implies a gain in muscle mass, i think PED (Performance Enhancing Drug) might be better term for this application. plus if you really are using steroids, you can pull an A-Rod and just call it a PED and hope nobody does any research!
