Its fine. I don't think chess is a sport personally, and it's mostly due to the fact that it requires mental exertion rather than physical. From the definitions I've seen, most of them require a physical attribute/exertion. Think about it. Take away every physical aspect, aside from the players, away. Players can still visualize and call out moves using chess notation. Can't do that with other sports.
