Why do people need to make chess something it is not? It is the most challenging board game, practiced by many, mastered by few. Trying to claim it a sport or an art form just lessens what it is. It's chess friends, it doesn't need a coat of paint.

It's not an ATHLETIC sport (except in major time pressure), but it does involve sportsmanship.

BTW it is also laughable to consider Poker or Pool a sport.

Chess is a board game? What a bizarre notion. Board games are played with the family during holidays. Chess has only two contestants and fails to meet the social needs of board games.
Ah but it's an evidence-based board game. The evidence shows that board games don't have social needs and it's those playing them who do. Since chess players can't handle more than groups of two, it's perfect.
