Is chess anti feminist?

really? but why, this is a really stupid question. chess is a game, not some stupid sexist thing, some people just like being around the same gender, that dosent mean they are sexist.

chessuser999

Every one is one gender and race.

Every race and gender evenly represented, proving that we are all of perfectly equal capability. If you look at race and gender, you might start to make some associations that are not politically correct.

I never stated it was equal on both sides. You are the one imagining it and trying to win a strawman. Your analogy is not accurate to my words because you imagine it.

Right.  That's why your chosen video example shows a gazillionaire with a media empire compared to two teenagers trying to scrape a little publicity off of the crumbs of his even having mentioning them wink.png

Or, you might realize that women weren't even allowed in the same chess clubs with those men at the bottom there, and that progress has been slow.

haha this BS

women are not disadvantaged now so your argument is dead.

Judging by the quality of her games, and based on her own statements, Mrs chessuser must be a raging black communist woman.

I don't even know what your argument is.

Is it that women are just as capable as men but progress is just slow because they were held back decades ago?

I mean, you don't really have any solid points yet, which is probably why you have trouble articulating a single stance.

That's a blueprint people use to get teenage girls to go to the Playboy Mansion so they can meet celebrities like Bill Cosby. They don't have much but their bodies, but they can get modeling and acting careers with it.

The point I am making is if you are going the sexist crumb route, don't look for sympathy from me when there are other women doing something else to earn money/a living.

Who is going the sexist crumb route then?  I didn't see you saying this was only about the Botez sisters.  Oh, that's right, you lumped all the women together wink.png...

Right.  The laws and rules say they are equal, so presto!...everything is equal.  This argument didn't work for segregation, and it doesn't work here.  There's still a pay gap, 25% of women still get harassed at some point, etc,

You are one of 3 men to jump right on this wink.png...insecure much, guys?  Just get used it.  It's not going to change.

I think what he is trying to say is that there is still a variable of women being held back regardless of their achievements. Sexism would be a part of this if a teenage girl is trying to play against a teenage boy. A teenage boy's ego is at stake among his friends.

Ok, so maybe we need either to convince every generation of teenage boys to act differently or we need to form groups with desired morals and ethics.

You can't artificially mature teenage boys and girls.

They are children.

But no, I don't not think women chess players are being held back by men in any way, shape, or form.

Never in my life have a seen a female physician colleague get paid less than a male colleague, all other things being equal.

This pay gap myth is nuts.

++ 2nd row down, 3rd photograph in from the left is actor Peter Falk (Detective Lt. Columbo) of the "Columbo" television series fame. He was a chess aficionado, but not a titled player (to my knowledge).

Instead of having 1 female in a male dominated sport (say 20 on a team), you could have 10 of each that can recognize each other as equals. The environment plays a big part in this. And it is possible, see below.

You can't force enough females to play chess if they don't want to, so you will be forced to have women be the minority on any mixed team.

We have enough female chess players. How many more do you need in one playing hall?

I'm talking about in general, and the higher the elos, the less women you'll have.

I don't know the statistics, but I would assume the vast majority of chess players are male, so it would be impossible.

That is why I am addressing females at the younger ages. You get younger females, and as they grow you pair them up with male players of the same age who are NOT going to play sexist games. I am not saying that is easy, but it is possible.

Let's think about it. If girls were not even interested in chess, who would be picked on, the football players or the geeky chess boys?

You can't wipe out this behavior entirely, and to segregate them is rather "catholic" don't you think?

I was in chess club in medical school. I think the average chess meeting had about 14 males and 1 female.

No one was making fun of the females for liking chess nor were there any barriers.

Yep, those pesky NY Times articles that perpetuate these obvious myths are a scourge...

Honest question

If companies could hire woman employees, hire them, pay them less then won’t all the companies make their work force all women then?

Are all of your arguments so simplistic, or do you live in the real world?
