Also, I didn’t say anything negative towards anyone or anything in anyway. I’ve had friends that were Muslims that played chess with me and other Muslims would tell them not to play chess with me so that made me curious.

The link posted further above covers the ruling of only 1 school of thought in Islam. With most cases, there are two sides to every ruling in Islam, and there are other scholars who say that chess etc is fine to play. You can choose to follow either ruling.
I recently read in the news that a Pakistani girl was caned for playing chess with her brother in law.
In Iran a woman caught playing chess without a hijab was beheaded. (Now she won't need a hijab ironically)
So I take it chess is banned in Muslim countries?
