Maybe for you. It's a sport for the intellectual mind, might be too complicated for some.

Lol, you're so full of your own imagined intellect, you get my vote for biggest comedian here. Your threads always make me laugh, keep up the good work.

Philosophy is an evolving and accumulating sciencd. Do we have to keep on returning to basic questions like What is life? meaning of life, do i or anything really exist? No, we study philosophy books. No need to reinvent or rediscover.

Just google. I dont want to copy and paste.

Back to chess. Did chess makes life more meaningful? Or mankind is better without chess?

There are simply no answers to these questions. And with that we will end. Thank you everybody.

Chess is the practical concrete application of an abstract field of mathematics known as  Game Theory.

Our instinct for  survival drives us to want to control our environment.  Chess is just complicated enough to challenge our instinct to control.  It provides us  with a temporary illusion  of  control.

Chess is Siege Warfare in game form.  If we generalize it into the abstract field of mathematics known as Game Theory then it becomes the study of the theoretical basis of a particular branch of knowledge or  experience  and that is  philosophy.  In that way chess can be considered a philosophical experiment from a unique perspective.

A perspective of the theoretical basis of  time. space, and matter in a finite environment.

Or is it an epic story of serfs and nobles doing the whims of an delusional king bent on sacrificing the masses in order to capture that hill again.

A dead master brings up philosophy in a room of chessplayers and loses to a fox.  Hollywood can't make this up.

We'd certainly get more done without it. But considering much of what we do, the whole world is probably better off with us diverted playing chess.
