Personally it depends on you and what you want to attain from chess and how serious you are. I've had paid accounts here and other sites and do you need them? No, in my opinion. The free account is all you really need if you're looking for basic stuff and just playing games.
But we know that if you want, even a sliver, of more excitement of benefits then you have to pay. So it all comes back to you. Decide what you want from chess. Is this a hobby for you?

Well, I just got done with a problem with support who shutdown my account because the AI said I had more than one login? I don't have more than one login. Well I do now because of this problem, but I use Lastpass so I can't mix up my loggin's. If I don't have two then I don't.
But, it seems to be fixed "for the time being" well see how it goes.

I got free membership for May from a link Chess Vibes on YouTube provided. My current USCF rating is a little below 1500. I have been working through their white opening repertoire course, and I think the course is quite good for someone near my level. Better for me than any courses I have taken on Chessable. The yearly membership is a bit expensive, but I am still considering it. I highly recommend you try them out if you can.
