India is one of the best and fastest developing countries in chess, for sure.

For the moment, USA is busy importing players from other countries, but Indians will follow soon.

India will be "importing" players from other countries soon?

exporting

Or just porting.

There are some good players from India (such as Anand) but Indians probably started to focus on cricket more than chess. Good players in some countries are:

Russia - Garry Kasparov, Anatoly Karpov

United States of America - Bobby Fischer, Paul Morphy

Cuba - Jose Capablanca

Norweigh - Magnus Carlsen

Germany - Emanuel Lask

India - Viswanathan Anand

From my personal experience, Russians are the best.

Russia has the top players.

China has the 2nd most top players.

There is no question to any of these statements so, please do not disagree with me, please.

(However, there seems to question if Ukraine is 2nd instead of China.)

As far as being fast risers and a very positive outlook for the future, there is no doubt that both India and China are the two nations to watch for.

Vichy Anand is the Jackie Robinson hero for the Indians.  Moreover, Indians excel at mental sports.

Hou Yifan is brilliant, and has a real chance to eclipse Judit Polgar.  She, Ding Loren, and Wei Yi are leading the Chinese boom.  In America one can point to Jeffrey Xiong and Awonder Liang.

I wonder if GM Eugenio Torre paved the path for Wesley So who is half Chinese, half Filipino.

As far as I am concerned, you are consistent only to the axiom that earnings should be private, while losses should be public.

We adopted the same axiom in Greece a few years ago, and we managed to bankrupt the economy in virtually no time at all...

We have not adopted that mantra completely, though there are many that would love to do so.  There are still enough of us that understand basic economics that have held back the tide, for now.  But we continue to import more than we export (and that is not likely to change in the near future), so it is only fitting that we would import our chess talent

Immigrants = Imports?   Please, only legal immigration.

Garry Kasparov lives in New York City.  He is a terrific immigrant import!

let's assume that GMs are good players...Russia by far is #1 (223) is the answer...then U.S.....(83):

Kasparov was born in Azerbaijan.  His father was Jewish, his mother Armenian.

The USA is lousy in chess compared to India. India's the best in Cricket too. And they're the best software programmers around.

A forgotten great Indian chess player Mir Sultan Khan, he beat players Marshall, Kashdan, Tartakower, Euwe, Rubinstein,Capablanca and Alekhine and many strong players; Mir Sultan Khan most natural chess player.

Lovely Lola, are you expressing your Aniti-Amarican sentiments.

And many of the bitch comments which I found regarding the population of India...well u people don't get it and Chinese and Russians are giving you a good beating...even small country of Vietnam gave you hell and you talk of your country...bla bla bla Americans...#respect everyone irrespective of anything

Ziryab

Numbers matter. India and China have large populations; many strong chess naturally are emerging from both countries. Chess also has an ancient history in both countries, each of which has a credible claim to have originated the game.

Chess originated in England, the first game of chess, was played at “Stonehenge “

We had an Ethiopian on the site a few years ago claiming African priority. Funny enough, it was an Englishman, H.J.R. Murray, who made the argument that is now more or less orthodox that chess originated in India. Persia and China also have strong claims.
