Isn't going on vacation when you're losing cheating?
If you open the game where they're on vacation, then IIRC in the info tab it will tell you how many days of vacation they have remaining.
If they're a paying member then (again IIRC) they can accumulate something absurd like 90 days of vacation if their account is old.
I don't understand why they allow that much. I can't imagine a life situation that would incapacitate me for, say, 50 days and only 50 days... in any case it's not cheating it's just annoying.
Vacation mode is part of chess.com so of course it isn't cheating, Lots of people have many games going at once so people who look at just their one game against an opponent and say they have gone into vacation mode because they are losing often ignore the fact they went into vacation mode in many games and yours probably isn't any more important to them than any of the others.
I regularly go into vacation mode because I can't be bothered to make a move in my game and it is a perk of membership that you get put in auto-vacation mode rather than losing on time.
I am going to go on a 2-year mission for my church in a few years. It would be nice to have 730 days of vacation for that!

So you're pretty young, a teenager?

Probably the same way you spent 12 years acquiring a 4th grade education. By using time the best way you know how.

You would think "read the site rules" would be common sense advice. Something even chess.com staff might suggest. But we must not forget how fragile and delicate some people are. Since "read the site rules" is so offensive to some people, we should probably be more sensitive and understanding. You just never know what might trigger someone.
Well, they can change the rules if they wish. It's not something I've done much over the years I've been on the site, just of late when I've let my number of games dwindle to just 2 (one now) rather than my usual 20+ because I'm just having a period being less interested in playing daily games. If it didn't auto-vacate me then I'd either move faster on time. Either is fine, but I've never actively turned vacation mode on, I just get the 6 hours to go time running out message, think 'Ah, not now', forget it and then get the message I've been put in vacation mode, then I often forget it again for a day or two.
@tripledown Profanity is not acceptable in the forums - neither are personal attacks. Please stop both of those things, or stronger sanctions may be applied.
Everyone else - please don't quote profanity: it just makes the moderators' clean up job that much harder.
@markyboy1974 If you've got concerns about how someone in a clearly losing situation is prolonging the game with vacation time, please report it to the Support team via Help -> Report Abuse, not by posting in the forums.
I am now locking this thread.

I've been playing a lot of 24 hour games. Some opponents have gone on vacation. How long can they be on vacation? Isn't it cheating when you are losing and pop it on vacation for more than a week so far?
