The top players are so evenly matched that they can’t pull away or get even close to that point. If a player happened to come along that can beat stockfish, they wouldn’t be able to farm enough points against the leading players before the gain wouldn’t be enough for each win, practicality wise. Leading players would probably stop playing him anyways. It’s based on chess proficiency, which makes it impossible to raise a rating that high. The only reason online ratings are so high is because of the abundance of points that can be gained from other players.
