Is it normal to be good at daily games and terrible at rapid games?

Rapid games are not really "Chess" in my opinion, I loved the bullet games for many years (damn you internet speed and slow computer) but my proper game has suffered tremendously. E.G my opponent missed .....2..QH4# mate on move 2!!!!! LOL

I haven't played many rapid or bullet games at all, but I find they just give me mad anxiety! I get so much more enjoyment out of a daily game!
My friend suggested I try more rapid and bullet games though as the timings are closer to what I'd experience in an actual in-person tournmanent.
Out of interest, how much time are you allotted in a standard game of chess in a tournament? Chess.com is pretty much my only chess experience! Never played on a real board before. Not against an opponent anyway! Just against myself haha.

30 min in my games, but I guess it depends on the level, the 30sec games are too much for my computer haha. I would suggest using the anxiety to your advantage

Well, to me it sounds like you've answered your own question. You don't have enough experience to feel comfortable with a clock running down. And the only real solution to that is playing more, so you gain more experience and eventually start feeling more comfortable playing quicker time controls.
I think playing daily chess is good practice, but one should also get used to playing with a clock. Try something like 30 minutes a side or 15 minutes with a 10 second increment and just keep playing. If you make a mistake or lose, it's fine. We all do that. Every mistake is a lesson, and it's up to you whether you learn from them or not. In order to get good at chess you have to make thousands and thousands of mistakes - and to learn from them. The biggest obstacle I've seen many people face is that they're simply afraid of making those mistakes, so they avoid playing altogether - and thus never get any better at the game.
In tournament chess there are different time controls, but generally you'd get like 1,5-2 hours on your clock with some increment. Sometimes less. There are rapid and blitz games over the board as well, but it's up to preference what type of tournament you'd like to enter. I think playing something like 30 minutes a side is a good starting time control for a beginner. Enough time to think, but you can still get a couple to few games in a day.

Your confidence and skill areoing to get a lot higher when your rating will be closer to 1250.
And even a lot more at 1350 if your experience is like what i had.
I remember when i was at your level i was losing most of my games so it was painful most of the time.
It's normal one of my friend cannot beat me at normal speed but if i give him 3-4 min per move he beat me.

Start with at least 30 minute games, as others have said. If the clock is an issue for you, maybe even go slower, like an hour. Beginners rarely need that much time, but it'll help you get used to playing with a clock.
Also, you mentioned using the analysis board in your daily games. I'd recommend trying to do as much analysis as possible without it first, just to practice visualizing the moves before making them. I wouldn't do away with analyzing with the analysis board altogether, if that's how you're used to playing, but at least try to visualize without it first, for the practice.

I’m quite happy playing daily games atm, not sure I’ll ever get used to bullet games.....but I will try some 30 min games!
Is it also normal to be quite good some days and be able to think clearly, then the next day you’re playing absolutely terrible? 😂 I can’t seem to get a good consistency going!

I'd argue that Rapid would be best for improvement. It challenges you to find a move in a decent amount of time so you can know whether or not certain areas of your game needs work. Bullet and Blitz are too fast and Daily is just way too slow.
To answer your question, it's possible that Daily games can be easier since it depends on how much time you want to actually spend. Someone might spend a few mins in total and another player spends hours on the game while using the analysis board.

no... blitz is, more games, unless you want to grind a serious puzzle, at early stages rapid means nothing

Totally normal to have good and bad days... I've learned that the hard way. Some days my chess is just garbage. Depends on your mood, motivation and energy or whatever. It's not even that easy to spot... but identify your A-game and know when to play rated or not, if you care that much ;p
Silly question perhaps but I was just wondering if it was a common thing for some players to be decent at daily games but not so much at rapid/bullet games?
When I know I have 24 hours to make a move, and I can really think about it, and use the in game analysis board to map out moves etc, I'm so much more comfortable and confident in my game. Yet, when I occasionally play the odd rapid game, I completely choke! I just panic and play blindly.
Any tips on how to improve your rapid game skills? and does it mean you're not a good player if you can't play rapid?
