Is it okay to SLAP your opponent when he is in a winning position?

I think it is. Which is why I wait till I get in the winning position. You may think how do I turn the tables. Well I think the many fake slaps I deliver distract the opponent just enough for him to blunder and then -

Only if your opponent is shorter than you and not as strong.

@Kaynight - I am no clown. I merely pose some of the fundamental questions of chess and welcome the chess community to share their opinion on it.

I am no clown. I assure you Mrs. Popey, I may be stupid but I am not clever!

Okay to slap your opponent when he is in a winning position ?

Of course it is. Just make sure that there are no witnesses, otherwise

you will be arrested for assault, and you might find yourself spending

some time in a correctional institution, where you will probably be

horribly raped....and possibly slapped.

NO!! Doing anything less than burning your opponent at the stake, is socially UNACCEPTABLE!

Seriously, dude? No... just no. Don't even joke about something like that.

Do you realize how bad burning people at the stake is for the environment? Stop glorifying such an irresponsible practice!

I didn't write the book on Proper Chess Ettiquette. I am just the messenger.

Don't blame me.

Obviously whoever wrote the book was not an environmentalist.

i thought they only do that in low-brow prisons with the general public?

Ahh, yes... I forgot that there are also high-brow prisons where everything is great, and nothing bad ever happens to anybody. Thank you for reminding me.

No no no no no no no no no no!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It doesn't matter maybe to you if you do it, but the other player will most likely scream for one, never want to play chess with you, and may not forgive you! So please no!

By slapping your opponent, you are simply giving him , a Helping hand , with his blood circulation, and that can’t be Bad !

Not if you slap em hard enough.

Sometimes I use the BACK of my hand, which is less formal and more a gesture of helping my opponent come to the realization that they're just been OWNED. It is a courtesy, and many a lifelong chess friendship has been forged over the repeated backhands I've given my opponents.

Oh yes, quite customary in some more civilized societies. It's perfectly acceptable gentlemanly etiquette. Also remember to hold your pinky out while sipping your tea. Just put the tea down while you whack him so hard his teeth rattles then continue sipping your tea..... with the pinky out straight.

Then in between rounds you get in a few of these with their friends & family that are waiting to see how the game went.
