I heard a NM say the more you find something fun the easier it'll stick into your brain and that he listened to music studying and playing chess. I like to listen to music so I wanted to make this forum to get peoples thoughts on is it okay to listen to music when doing puzzles personally I see no problem with it but who am I to know.

Listening to classical music and some frequency sounds is helpful for some online players.

Whenever you face a question like this, ask yourself "who's going to stop me"

Verkaley

@brenbrenx no it's not the case of "whose gonna stop me" I know nobody could stop me but the point of this post was to say is it okay? Or is it harming my chess improvement

RideZen2

If you are bored doing something, playing music is the best to go.

I don't see any problem with it. If it helps you to focus or if you just enjoy it, then there's no problem with listening to music while doing puzzles.

If it helps you focus then why not

Listening to music may help some. I'm an old(er) musician and i cannot listen to music and concentrate on anything else. My attention automatically focuses on the composition, chord structure, intervals, instrumentation, etc., etc., etc. Often times a piece or movement becomes imprinted on my mind and i cannot shake it loose.

I listen to music when I play speed chess but not puzzles, although there is probably nothing wrong with listener to music while doing puzzles.
