I think the American spelling is defense, and the British spelling is defence.

We love the metric system because it is much simpler to use than inches, pounds, etc.

"Defense" if you mean the opposite of offense, and "defence" if you're referring to a particular fence.

Examples:

The football team plays good defense.

Defamily on deother side of defence is weird.

Europeans are not the only ones that use the metric system, most countries use the metric system. I write it both ways because they are the same thing.

Defense=USA spelling. Defence=British spelling, self-defensce=fight or flight...preferably on Jefferson Trans-World Airplane/Aerline..yuk, yuk.
