Please tell me that you are not avoiding conversation with a 4yo. That would be tragic.

Don't judge him too harshly, he is only a kid. We all know what happens when fathers push their daughters to play tennis. The results are not good.

If anything- judge his parents. Does his behavior mirror that of his mother or father? There in lies your problem.

And if in doubt take the queen odds when offered!

No need for concern...none of these events ever took place.

Do you have any examples to substantiate this WILD claim kaynight?

Bonsai_Dragon

Think outside the box, use a subistute for the queen, a lighter, a salt sharker, anything...teach him that there's always a way and a minor thing like losing a queen doesn't mean the games over...common sense man!

Very funny post Vlad.

Vlad, It could be a good thing to have it out with him, have a confrontation...

On the other hand you could find yourselves flinging unforgetable dark truths at each other in a way which could never be forgiven or forgotten.

Personally I would go for icy politeness and passive aggression.

People at work have to be civil to each other under all sorts of pressure. There's no reason why you cant adopt this approach with your nephew.

You could also put him in a zoo with the monkeys. Children fit in well there.

What's concerning is his lack of commitment to the beautiful game.

This might be a bit cruel don't you think?

Man, don't give up. At 4 years of age he is already quite old, but there are still some hopes left.

Try once again to teach him chess, and if he kicks the queen again then simply lock him in a dark room with no food for 3 days. (You can give him a glass of water, you don't want him to die. You know, if he dies you will go to jail).

But, here is the secret. When you lock him in the dark room, give him a chess board without any pieces. Magically he will start developing his ability to play blindfold chess and eventually he will start liking it.

Repeat this over and over again. Remember that persistence is the main key to success.

Don't worry if he becomes anorexic, chess is more important than health.

Good idea. But I would probably get in trouble for "child abuse". Ironic. World we live in I guess.

Not considering the circumstances. Any reasonable judge (or human) would give you the benefit of the doubt.

In my opinion you should not do that. Think about the poor monkeys.

macer75

You should make him play Houdini. Maybe he'll win.

If the kid does not want to play chess do not force it down his throat.. he will think of you badly, and he wont like chess.

He'll regret it later once he realizes how wrong he was.

Yeah, do you want the kid to become the typical office worker who gets 10 days of vacation per year, has to work over 40 hours per week, spend over 2 hours per day on the road and get a miserable salary?

Or you want him to become the next big thing who will get millions of bucks for doing a 5 minute appearance at some event?

So, force him to become the next chess genius!!

He will be thankful to you and you may even make a lot of money too when he becomes a millionaire.

You know, just like Neymar's father does.

This is the sort of logical and insightful answer I was looking for.
