I am not sure exactly what you mean, but yes the tactics trainer is similar to a puzzle and yes the timer affects your rating. So, if you see the mate in five immediately and make the winning move in a few seconds, you get master class points, and if you never see it you get nothing, but if you see it after several minutes you get some minimum amount. I believe if you have a quite high rating, you can lose points even with a correct answer because it took you too long. I don't think the trainer ratings are very accurate anyway so I wouldn't worry about them...just do your best.

I've been watching my points as I go, I think I get it kind of it now. I had to turn the timer off though otherwise I pay more attention to the time and make stupid mistakes.
I am doing the tactics on my android phone and noticed a few things. I just noticed the timer and I'm unsure how it works. Sometimes it goes up, I'm not sure if I've won bonus time or if it just goes up. Does running out affect my bonus rating? I logged onto the website earlier and I had a different rating than what was displayed on my phone. I am not sure if it's because my phone might have been logged on but asleep, and maybe something didn't refresh or what. I am vacationing so I have a need to switch between devices. I am also new and unsure of how the rating system works, it appears there are different ratings for different things. I hope this is the proper forum for this question.
