Is Tal-Botvinnik 1961 a good match to read about?

It features the Caro-Kann and Nimzo-Indian, two openings that I play, but the games are from rather long ago.  Wonder if I should spend any time going over those games.

Yes , especially Tal's version. He has humor and played imaginative chess in that match.

Wrong, pelly13.  The 1960 match was the one Tal played well in.  1961 was played on Botvinnik's terms and it showed in the result.

ghostofmaroczy is correct... Tal's book on the 1960 match is wonderful. I haven't read the book on the 1961 rematch... but I'm sure it's worth reading regardless of Tal's poor play and the age of the games.

What's with people thinking that games must be modern in order to be instructive? Doesn't anyone play over Reti's or Nimzovich's games anymore?

What is with the hashtag? It's one thing to be correct, but no one wants to learn from someone who points it out in an obnoxious way.

Dear chessman1504,

My hashtag referred to Botvinnik's "Right of Return" as far as being granted a rematch.

Don't get so offended.

Yours truly, ghostofmaroczy

Ah, okay. Well, I'm sorry.
