There is a place for trash talking in chess: It's within the pencil neck keyboard coward fraternity who have to be in bed early to avoid upsetting their parents.

the best trash talk I ever heard was when a visiting strong player was stomping a local in blitz; he sacked his queen for a bishop knight mate.

The visiting player, a native Russian speaker, finished him off with the phrase "I forget how to do," right as the poor local's flag fell.

In other words, he let his opponent's clock run out instead of checkmating/finishing him.

Trash talking in chess is like wine tasting in boxing.

The fact that boxing is a physical sport and chess is a mental game/sport, does not make chess an anti-trash talking game/sport.

Trash talking is just as lame in physical sports.  Someone that wins with grace and dignity is always more intimidating than someone that trash tralks like a schoolyard kickball player.  Trash talking indicates insecurity in one's self.

yea dont be a weaboo

I think trash talk belongs otb where you can see your opponent.

It has to happen in a friendly tone. both players know they are just funny.

With friends it's just maybe ok but IMO trash talk doesn't belong to chess. Thats why I dislike Danny Rensch's style

He didn't say that there is no trash talk in chess because boxing and chess are different kinds of sports. He was just pointing out that trash talk doesn't belong to chess like fine wines don't belong near boxing ring.

Fine wines don't belong near a chess match either. Nonsensical point.

Try taking a look at what Fischer, Nimzowitsch and right up to Kasparov etc. have said over the years. Not a single player has ever said "oh he was better", there's trash talk throughout the history of chess.

And where do I say that he said that 'there is no trash talk in chess because boxing and chess are different kinds of sports'?

Other than using boxing and chess as an example, my point was independent of his sentence. Boxing is known for trash talking and boxing is an intense physical sport. Chess is just as intense mentally.

it sound like they are playing in a playing in a train station. trash talk is the only way to play.

if both players had been quiet that would have been strange.

why not talk to an opponent in chess?

G0INGP0STAL

As soon as an opponent offers a draw in a dead lost position, they have opened themselves up to all the trash talk you can dish.

Obviously, there are lines that should not be crossed.

What are your best lines or experience/s?

Of course there is.  For trashy people.  Mouth breathers who have sorry ass lives.
