play with yourself
Is there a way to block streamers from playing you?
So if you beat a grandmaster, or even almost got a draw, you wouldn't tell anyone?
Story of my life! This being a regular occurance each day and having to stay silent ![]()
I am not beating any grandmaster, I just dont want to play on other peoples streams regardless of level or win/lose.
One one hand, the question is legit: how is someone to make money out of your work or doings without your permission?
On the other hand, is it really YOU when your name and face are usually replaced by a "buddy icon" and an avatar name?
And then, the question sure annoys all them money makers, since before it occured on the Internet. Yes, the question would have been the same with Chessbase selling databases of games with your actual names and ID without asking anyone for permission. But for what I know, no one ever bothered suing them over that (theoretical?) issue. Yet, many tournaments made sure the games would not be transmitted to Chessbase GmbH while others had a paid (maybe not in money tho, but more like with free pay softwares) "inside man" who would do that job...
Maybe a mistake tho, maybe good money was to be gained through a proper lawsuit. But maybe not. It's a complicated world these days.
I'll add, in conclusion, that it would be a sensible idea to implement a "permission asking" thingie in the Live games interface or settings, regarding the public display (and/or commercial use) of played games.
P.S. if rare or not, if likely or not to happen, has nothing to do with anything, regarding that question. Just saying. You don't let go a robber just because it was unlikely you get robbed.
I dont want to play any streamer. I don't play chess for the entertainment and profit of others, I just want to play the odd game in my downtime and I don't want to be put on display for the world.

if someone is streaming, you will see a small banner in the chat that says [opponent's name] is streaming! check them out! with a clickable link to their stream. Then, you can just abort the game and block the player. If they are not streaming, then I do not know. You will have to check every person's profile before you make a move, which seems unnecessary. This will also not work if the streamer is not a chess.com community streamer, so there isn't a method for that either.
Also, the banner works only on the website if I recall correctly. I do not know if there is a similar thing on ios/android.
What what?
thats what I said to your nonsensical comment
What part, word or sentence is it you struggle to understand? Is English a language you're fluent with?

Shots fired
But, hey Duck, if you want a shot, here is one:
_ Me no understand
_ Learn English
Do you see the difference? (rethorical question).
That depends. If the OP participates in events such as Untitled Tuesday or some of the Community Championships, the chances are a bit higher. I occasionally play in Untitled Tuesday and have come across a few streamers there, even as a low rated player. Those were people rated around 1000 or maybe a bit higher who were streaming their games. Not sure how much of an audience they got though.
When I participated in the qualifiers for last year's Duck Chess Championship, I was twice paired with Eric Rosen, who was streaming. Of course, I lost both games...
Having said all that, I don't really mind playing a streamer. If anything, that gives me an opportunity to watch the games from their perspective afterwards, see what they say and maybe learn where I went wrong or missed something.
