Is there a way to filter opponents based on country?

Hello, im a new player and i want to improve my chess.

It's quite hard to do so when i constantly get opponents from a specific country where they don't learn anything but desperately try to get a scholars mate

All ive been doing is countering scholars mate, its impossible to see different openings when most my opponents are these type of people.

Some of them also learnt the rules wrongly and think checking 10 times in a row wins them a game (?)

These games are not fun at all and don't leave you with any valuable thing after so please tell me if theres a way to filter out a country completely

Thank you

There should be a way to do this, but there isn’t.

No, and as far as I know there will never be

Is there a way to ban all people who ask for this?

#6 Mute is 100% deserved, but I'm not sure if a ban is needed

it would just be inefficient.

they would just change their country to counter it.

but why?

thats not the country's fault

what if you play with someone from completely different country and he plays the same? you will filter it too? I believe either you can't defend well against annoying attacks or you mad of loss

its just my opinion

(transference complaint deleted for space)

you are in roughly the same position as a new boxer that just wants to throw haymakers...

first learn, then train, then fight:

the membership is your gym;

the menu is your technique;

the puzzles tabs are your heavy & speed bags;

learn--> lessons is your boxing trainer;

train--> endgames is your sparring partner.

train--> analysis is the 'golden gloves' student;

play--> 1-day daily games are scheduled bouts;

game review is your post-fight coach session.

you'll thank me later if you take my advice. 🥊

By the way, scholars mate is not based on country. On your level, a lot of players do scholars mate regardless of their country. Just learn how to defend properly and then on higher levels, you'll never encounter it

Scholar's Mate is just an annoying thing you will have to deal with around the 500 elo range. It's a very popular opening around that rating mark. It's got nothing to do with what country someone is from. It has everything to do with the fact that beginners will play it to try and get quick wins, sometimes with success.

Countering Scholar's mate isn't very difficult, but I get it if you're sick of seeing it. Maybe try responding to 1.e4 with 1...e6 or d5. It should throw Scholar's Mate players off and they won't be able to play the classic Scholar's Mate.

Yes you've told us on multiple similar topics.

And you can't seem to stop"

Gimme the first letter of the name of the country. Just to make sure it matches with the one I'm thinking of. wink

This would be incredibly useless, as they can just switch their country. Just get better at chess, and at higher levels you will almost never see it

You mean scholars? The bunny would very much like to play scholars.

Blocking Hikaru might help

Les than half of your opponents try scholars mate.
