Is this a decent strategy when loosing?

I was in a bad position early here by letting my opponent push their f pawn into my kingside. At some point I decided to just do nothing and try and hold the position hoping black gets impatient and makes a blunder which they did. I was just wondering in general is this a reasonable approach or should you always look for creating counterplay.

When were you doing nothing? The only move I saw that was waiting was move 36... so I guess your question is whether it's ever useful to just defend... yes, sometimes you should just defend.

But also sometimes it's useful to actually shuffle back and forth and not do anything. I've even done that in OTB tournament games when I'm behind. I didn't go for my counterplay because the point was to put off the critical moments until the clocks were lower... make a mess of the position when they only have a few minutes and you'll have much better chances.
