Is this a good chess training schedule?

As an actuarial student soon entering the field which means the first few years I have to study for exams while working, my time is fairly limited. But this is what I’d have time for (on non-tournament weeks). I was wondering if this would be a good allocation.

By “theoretical study” I mean whatever book I’m on that’s teaching stuff whether it’s strategy, endgames, positional play, calculation. This would mostly be from Sierawan, Yusupov, or Aagaard depending on how far along I’m in the series. Right now, that book for me is “Winning Chess Strategies by Sierawan”, as I’m only a Class D USCF player right now.

Monday - 30 minutes tactics training

Tuesday - 30 minutes theoretical study

Wednesday - 30 minutes tactics training

Thursday - 30 minutes theoretical study

Friday - G45/45 game online (and briefly look over); free for all - study whatever

Saturday - 30 minutes tactics training; G45/45 game online (and briefly look over)

Sunday - 30 minutes theoretical study, G45/45 game online (and briefly look over)

A little blitz here and there to practice openings and quick tactical vision; ChessTempo on the go sometimes when there’s downtime.

I would take a break from this schedule on tournament weeks for I would be playing games on the weekend, and spend most of the following week looking over them and discussing them, and then be back to this schedule the following week.

Sounds good.   I think you may be overestimating the amount of free time you will have when pursuing a job and work studies at the same time.

Good luck.
