I want to see some experienced player to comment on this too. I am not new at chess but I don't have deep insight by looking at a position after the exchange.
My initial feeling, before white queen moved to center was that the black square bishop had better positional value than the knight it took, to be taken by black pawn. In retrospect after the moves have been made it looks like a risky position with black's bishops having full access to two diagonals from top right to bottom left. But I am really curious whether my impression is shared by anybody. Maybe by having your right side knight still locked away while queen is in center close to threatened squares of mid value pieces is dangerous.
So Im new to chess and often notice moves in the beginning of games where I have the choice to trade equal pieces but I'll end up controlling more of the center squares... I know there's no one answer, but in general, is this type of situation better? Where you trade equal material, but have better position?
