yes it does, I actually had the scary realization when I clicked on it by accident in the middle of the game and immediately closed it, by fear of getting banned or something. Really bad fail
Is using the opening explorer while playing cheating?

Yeah, don't consult anything mid game... That's cheating. It's funny people saying 'imagine' playing correspondence chess. That's mostly what I played as a teen. There were no computers. Lol.
Yeah, you still can't consult them in any form, daily included. To be fair, I thought you were a younger person because of the profile picture, so I apologize if I pointed out the obvious about correspondence.

Interesting that Play is in use for many months now, and it is still a problem then. I never clicked on it, I was afraid that it works.
I will believe you for those shorter games,as I personally don't really play those. Another thing about Play interface is when you look at open challenges and graph is shown, where it says 3 minutes - that line, it is actually 1 minute games on that line. It is nothing as serious as 2 mentioned things, but they should probably fix it as well.

Well, I haven't checked myself, but multiple people are saying it so...
That's really pathetic chess.com.

That doesn't make too much sense to me, I don't see why it would be allowed in one and not the other. Is there an official rule for that?
If you think that doesn't make sense, you are living under a rock.
Daily Chess, also known as Correspondence Chess, is totally different from over the board chess. In fact, some Correspondence sites, like the biggest one in the world, ICCF (International Correspondence Chess Federation), even allows engines! Other correspondence sites don't, like chess.com or USCF Correspondence events.
Daily Chess here, in essence, is "baby Correspondence". Real, genuine Correspondence Chess involves very deep research. Even engines aren't perfect, and often times, I have made moves contrary to what engines recommend. Now don't get me wrong, the engine's top move is the right move over 90% of the time, but not always!
Let me point out something. The opening explorer in the new live server on the right corner when you're playing allows you to click on it and go to openings. This will give beginners the false sense this is allowed. Instead, you couldn't click on it in the old server.
I also want to say most strong players (Hikaru, Danya, Minh Le, etc...) have agreed when asked that they prefer the old live server to the new one, better interface and smoother to use.
I think chess.com will have to make big updates to this new server before removing the old one, otherwise a bunch of players will go and look elsewhere for greener pastures
So it actually does work in live games? As I've said, then that is an epic fail.
