Interesting topic, i know it's months old, but i used to find exactly the same: that i could concentrate more OTB and it made more sense. But now I play nearly exclusively online, so i've got used to that and find it easier
Its easier to play ON the board than off....

I don't have any live opponents at the moment. But you can play with a real person using a monitor. I think it depends on the theme of the pieces as to whether it's easier or not. Some themes have heavy outlines on the pieces. I blundered a couple games because I thought a white piece was black. * It's easier to see patterns on the screen but it fatigues my eyes. I would much rather play chess OTB, but I think it's easier on the computer for a variety of reasons.

I agree with mcostan that it sometimes depends on the theme. Wehn I first came to chess.com I was like WHAT ON EARTH IS THIS?? The theme off the board was so hard to get used too after 3D all the time. I changed my theme to graffiti so now its fine. But I still find that for some reason my thinking pattern is a lot better on a board, I would rate myself 1300 if it was OTB
Ecept you could minus the spammers..... Another game I play is totally wrecked because the developer has abondant the game....
