So Poland played Australia today, and in a Semi-Slav, I left the position of Anton Smirnov as white against Jan-Krzysztof Duda right around here:
I just checked how the game finished a few minutes ago and was shocked after seeing the final move:
It's so crazy to me that Smirnov thought for 16* minutes in a position and missed a check and a capture. Admittedly, this happens to the best of us -- like who sees Qxg2!! after it wasn't in the position until you blundered? No one.
Ben Finegold always says something along the lines of "if my opponent is thinking forever in a position, they're probably going to end up blundering severely," and this is no exception. Hope you liked this tactic
