Y'all should have made your prediction before the match started. Not much point now.

no jokes..

Kasparov is a beast.. Karpov is old..

Kasparov is destined to win all those blitz games and 3 win in the rapid and draw 1 as black in the rapid..

Karpov might get lucky with a draw

I now predict the following scenario (in the absence of Fischer's ghost):

1. Kasparov races to a clean 6-0 lead, needing just half a point more to win.

2. Karpov, who has lost 56lb in weight (in only a few days), is withdrawn by his Kremlin appointed heavies/seconds and admitted to a sanatorium.

3. FIDE declares the match unfinished and therefore drawn.

4. Kasparov announces his retirement from chess (again) and takes up politics in some obscure eastern state, Borat is appointed as his deputy.

Even with Kasparov being inactive, I can't see Karpov winning. I know he won their mini-blitz match a few years ago but Karpov's recent form has been terrible. Perhaps age is finally catching up with him. I predict Kasparov to win by at least 2 points.

Bingo. Karpov is over the hill now. Most chess players peak in their late 30's/early 40's and then it's all downhill, unfortunately.  There are a few exceptions, of course, but most World Champions are between the ages of 25 and 45, which should say something.  If I can pick out Karpov's blunders, something is definitely wrong (I'm only a 1750 player).  I used to be totally confounded by GM games, but game 2 of this match was pretty predictable (except for the Kasparov knight sac) and poorly played, on Karpov's part.  If Kasparov has something to prove though, he should challenge one of the serious contenders, like Anand or Kramnik.  Or maybe a Big Blue rematch, if they can piece it back together.

Kasparov isn't doing it to prove anything, he's retired, it's a game to celebrate their battle for the World Championship 25 years ago.
