That's good that you have been trying local tournaments before signing up for any expensive championships. It takes a while to get used to tournament play and to learn scoring, clock use, etc.
Hopefully, it can be be done in a fun environment and with minimal pressure.

I played chess on the surface of the sun. I would post the video, but its to bright. No one would be able to see anything.
