The general wisdom is that the value of bishops versus the value of knights depends on whether it is a closed or open position. In closed positions, knights are more valuable since they can jump over obstructing pawns and reach into the opponent's territory from an outpost where they are protected by a pawn. On an open board, bishops excel, especially when a pair of them is coordinated on adjacent diagonals. It's odd but true that the value of a piece depends on its environment, that piece values are relative to the position, and that piece values aren't fixed.

This question has bugged me for quite awile now most people would say Bishop but was there a gm out there who prefered Knights over Bishops or is bishops just dominate
