I don't think that would have happened OTB. Maybe I'm wrong. I agree with Kramnik. Online chess is uncivilized.
Even though I frequently dirty flag my opponents, Kramnik makes a good point about unwritten and unspoken rules.
I'm still going to keep flagging people, though, as that is my duty as the new generation.

Did you mean flagg?
I once reached a dead-drawn ending against a grandmaster, in online blitz.
Out of respect for his age (far older than me) and his title, I offered him a draw, instead of forcing him to play the obvious repetition.
He pondered the draw offer for a moment, then played on, instead. He sacrificed a rook (for no reason, other than give me a random spite check). Then he began premoving nonsense moves, chasing the flag.
I ended up losing on time, in a completely won position. I was shocked.
This GM just did that to me? I offered him a draw out of kindness, and this was what I got, in return?
It was then that I realized: in speed chess, nobody owes you any respect. Nobody owes you any favors. It's not a gentle dance; it's a knife fight. Stab, or be stabbed.
Either way, don't whine about it like a petulant child. Man up and accept your fate.
As the saying goes: "If you can't stand the heat, stay out of the kitchen."
Are you kidding ??? What the **** are you talking about man ? You are a biggest looser i ever seen in my life ! You was doing PIPI in your pampers when i was beating players much more stronger then you! You are not proffesional, because proffesionals knew how to lose and congratulate opponents, you are like a girl crying after i beat you! Be brave, be honest to yourself and stop this trush talkings!!! Everybody know that i am very good blitz player, i can win anyone in the world in single game! And "w"esley "s"o is nobody for me, just a player who are crying every single time when loosing, ( remember what you say about Firouzja ) !!! Stop playing with my name, i deserve to have a good name during whole my chess carrier, I am Officially inviting you to OTB blitz match with the Prize fund! Both of us will invest 5000$ and winner takes it all! I suggest all other people who's intrested in this situation, just take a look at my results in 2016 and 2017 Blitz World championships, and that should be enough… No need to listen for every crying babe, Tigran Petrosyan is always play Fair ! And if someone will continue Officially talk about me like that, we will meet in Court! God bless with true! True will never die ! Liers will kicked off…
The player Kramnik refers to as ”Fairplay (something)” that should have understood that he played a former World Champion and not beat him in a ”shameful” way was Andreikin, who is no weak player as a former Candidate with a plus score against Kramnik. Here he had a winning position just before Kramnik lost on time, which was maybe inevitable given that Kramnik was down to seconds while Andreikin had much more time left. Playing non increment chess slowly such a loss isn’t much to complain about. The one being disrespectful is Kramnik, linking Andreikin et al to moral acception of cheating etc etc just because he lost a game.
Maybe losing to Andreikin would have hurt less if they had similar political views. Andreikin left Russia after the invasion of Ukraine, after signing a petition against the war, while Kramnik went the other way to participate in events with Karjakin, while sitting with Shoigu and Peskov in a Board of Trustees, etc. Maybe stuff like that makes it easier for Kramnik to suggest that Andreikin is decadent, shameful, immoral etc etc. And even if that obviously isn’t what he referred to with stating that he would prefer to play opponents with similar values as himself, his going to Moscow to play against Karjakin instead is maybe fitting.
I will flag people because its just the culture of online chess, but I would probably prefer it if it wasn't. Have always respected Kramnik for his opinion and explanation here, as it matches up with views I have in different hobbies of mine
it is a legitimate strategy within the rules of the game and can lead to a win. The no-increment time control puts pressure on both players to make decisions quickly and efficiently, and flagging is a way to take advantage of an opponent who has run out of time. Additionally, in online chess where time is often of the essence, flagging can be seen as a way to speed up the game and keep up with the fast pace of online play. Ultimately, the decision to flag or not is up to each player.
