Laptop Chess

My [edit - laptop] computer is getting to the stage its begining to fall apart, so am thinking of updating.  The specs of my current system are below

I guess the most arduous think my computer does has been some picture editing (which has died off of late), chess engines, and historically poker solvers.

What sort specs would you recommend - do i really need 12 gb of ram again or is 8Gb not going to be noticeably worse?  I've got no idea what sort of spec processor i should be going for...any insights on this would be appreciated too.

Thanks in advance to any suggestions

I can highly recommend the Huawei MateBook X Pro 2020.

I got the i5 version with 16GB ram.

It has an amazing 3k screen.

I run Chessbase 16, Komodo etc. And it flys. No issues and excellent build. Fan hardly kicks in and battery is great.

I was a Mac user so been a while since I used windows machines and I spent a long time researching before I choose this laptop and I have zero regrets :)

Check them out, losts of youtube videos. I would say that save money and go for the i5 not the i7. There are issues apparantly where the system is not able to fully provide the i7 performace due to cooling, however, for our purposes (unless you game) you do not need the i5 anyway.

If you need any specific info on it just let me know.

I love mine like I say and I am very fussy happy.png
