Largest database of master chess games in the world?

VLMJ

You might take a look at ChessOps.  It covers, to me, just about every opening there is with variations.  And it explains each move, step by step.  Very helpful to know the Openings by name and each move.  Very easy to navigate the program.  Try it.  You may find it very helpful.

Does chessbase have the biggest collection in the world?

Who knows? Why are you so hung up on quantity instead of quality? You have heard about DBs with duplicate games, typos, GM Draws and other deficiencies right? Do you really think the BIGGEST DB in the universe is going to be immensely more helpful to you than any other DB?

Also I just noticed you're not too familar with PCs but you're all set to use massive DBs on PCs? I think not but what do I know? I've only been using PCs since the 1980s...

i was thinking of something like chess mentor, chess mentor is great because i do believe if you make the move you remember them better and are much more time efficient. But i think chess mentor is good for general principles if you want to learn much in depth of an opening i dont think there are courses.

I mean if you want to play an opening on a professional level (yes i know the skill is lacking, but i mean in a theoretical sense), i mean not the newest novelties but i mean to play and really understand it.

I thank you all for your input. Please don't throw a piece at me NimzoRoy if you see me in a tournament. I'll get more acclimated with this as I go on.

I guess the real reason I wanted a huge database was more for statistical comparison of various system/openings, the different variations and so forth. I thought that might help me in some way. I could be wrong. I will pursue some of your suggestions, Thank you, Damon
