My chess friend group was having a spirited debate about how many cheaters are on the site. Some felt at least half were cheating, while others said it was far less. So, one of our friends decided to try an experiment to find out just how many and so he created a new account and began playing 10 min controls. I didn't approve of this, but everytime he suspected someone cheating, well, he went to cheating himself. And just to be fair, in the games he was about to win, he would resign so as not to damage his opponents rating since he was actually the one cheating. We were all pretty shocked with the results. Out of those games he only lost 1 and he says he played about 20 games or so. If his opponents were cheating too, it seems like they would have either beaten him or drawn. So the number in his experiment is 5%
While, I don't approve of the experiment and this certainly is not a scientific study I thought the results were interesting.
