Lets Appreciate Them !

Have seen tons of threads that speak about rude opponents who exhibited unsportsmanlike qualities . Have seen people abuse you when they lose .

But there are nice people as well. Lets take some time to appreciate them .

Today this guy thanked me for the game in English , Gujarati , Hindi , Kannada , Tamil .

Although I speak only two of the above five (English , Hindi) , I found his gesture really nice .

Apparently he thought I might speak those languages as well since am an Indian. But anyways , from this it is safe to conclude that this guy  takes up the effort to respectfully greet his opponent in their language. So you see ....there are extremes on both ends . We got super rude people here , but we got super nice people like him as well.

I have come across many other super nice and respectful opponents earlier , but never thought of keeping a record of them since it seemed usual to me back then since I hadn't come across any rude guy yet .

Here's the screenshot from today's game !

Yes that's very nice . Saying good game might seem insignificant to many ....but I believe it really helps you develop a good etiquette and also earns you some respect from your opponent.

In lichess there is an opton for automatically saying "good game" after every game that finishes! I have started that option! it is good so I do it! ( not comparing sites, and I would like if there is some option like this here)

That option is available here at chess.com as well.

Yes I do believe taking the time to appreciate the people who are nice is very important. I feel like it is undervalued but definitley is something people should do more often as not only is it a nice thing to do, but it makes people feel better and makes a better chess community and community in general.

Perhaps the next time people go in their games they can say good luckhappy.png with a smiley face and then say gg win or lose. That way there will be more positivitey and giving throught chess.com.

I see no need to make *GG* automatic.  Is it really that hard to type 2 letters?
