No one mentioned Mamedyarov yet and look at his rating blitz, rapid, classical in every single category he's so consistent and in the top 10 in every single category! He's a real mixed skills player.
Blitz rating number 16 in the world, but still show me anyone else who's on top in each category (except Carlsen of course lol)

I think the mostly likely outcome is that Carlsen holds the title again.
I believe Wesley So is the most likely contender, but his track record against Magnus is not entirely convincing. This matchup would likely be another with lots of draws, but I think Magnus would win it in the end.
I'm a long time Aronian fan and think he has a pretty good shot at it (and would personally love to see this match). I also agree that Mamedyarov is looking strong right now so we could see that happen.
I can't help but think he will hold the title, but anything can happen.
