MVM - Most Valuable Member Award

Sort:
Peanut34

Daeth was a member who could not spell and posted a forum topic that basically said that he invented a great "opining" and he wanted to get it named after him. There were lots of arguments between him and several other players that got more and more heated (he told someone to go play checkers). Anyway, he was no the brightest and the posts of him trying to make ridiculus arguments were very entertaining. Here is his "opining":

batgirl I thought being interested in the 'culture surrounding chess' that this thread would give you something to ponder

Your not ready for that......

She would most likely start off with the history of awards and how it was started in the past. Then proceed by say some do not deserve based on past standards. Then maybe a short summary of the meaning valuable and how it refers to this award.

And that is just to start.

Then should make a short list of who is eligible for this reward. Then start going over plus and minus of each candidate. Even create a tiebreaker if should arise. And after a day of going over this would come up with a winner that could not be argued.

Peanut your way off that is not the opening. Plus he had variations of it.

And one thing he did prove is it was usable in Bullet chess. I tried it out myself and enjoyed the win. Just before he left i found a group having a Team Match based on his post of that opening. And several players are using a slightly different variation of it and beating players stronger than them!

His fault was not making it fun and getting into arguements. -100 pts for not posting correct move order -500 for not telling the whole story. No Award.

Unfortunately, the method of scoring would reward the biggest troll rather than the most valuable member.

Fabiano Caruana may well be chess.com's most valuable asset. If they can keep him playing here, he will attract far more strong players, who will in turn attract more serious amateurs and so on.

But of course, Blackfirestorm is also an excellent candidate for this award.

The Chess Player of the Month "award" based it's winners not upon fame or points, but rather upon "essence". The natural essence of our bodily fluids which is at the core of all chess players in the known universe.

It's the stuff dreams are made of! And the winner of MVM has to have it.

royalbishop

No way a troll could win it as the would only be in forums. Even if they had 500,000 view pts no way they could win due to everybody calling them a troll and point out they view the profile page to see how much of a troll the member was and nothing more.

royalbishop

Yeah i see where this is going.

About this number of comments is where the seeds are planted to Jack-a-Tread!

essence of our bodily fluids...you are taking the pisser out of us!

landwehr

the MVM Award has a much greater importance, value and difficulty to achieve than 'Chess Player of the Month'

And the debate starts!

This is going in the direction of who can prove who deserves it more  than who should win the award!

landwehr

ok I am a male but not a sexist one, I fully appreciate the female form and features...luv em

First, we must find out whether this "award" is a compliment to the "winner", or a frightening warning to those who log onto Chess.com.

In order to win that award ...... well your profile page was visited several times. And Chess Player of the Month is way harder to win. I am pretty some of the candidates for it would agree as it must have taken them way more times to win it than it should have with reference to attempts at it.
