Marco, this thread is about a chess player and her mark on the development of women's chess in the US. It has absolutely nothing to do with "tastes."

Thanks, but it's too tiny to read and there's no date.

Ok, but all these photos you have posted (other threads too) show beautiful and smart girls. I love beautiful and smart girls and I think you do so; that is ok and cute !!

FIDE didn't use official ratings until around 1970, and the lowest possible rating was 2000. Lisa Lane quit chess before FIDE started giving ratings, and it's extremely doubtful she would have qualified for a rating in the early 1970s anyway.

There's an old article on chessbase about her:

http://en.chessbase.com/post/lisa-lane-the-first-che-beauty-queen

Wikipedia has the following:

According to two-time U. S. Women's Chess Champion Jennifer Shahade (author of Chess Bitch, a book about women chess players), Lisa quit the game partly because she was annoyed with being identified as a chess player. "It got to be embarrassing, constantly being introduced as a chess champion at parties." On her fame, Hickey said, "I guess I was good copy. I don't think the things I did in chess forty years ago are the most important things in my life."

That was my article that Chessbase used but changed the focus.

Not other "threads."  One other thread I was trying to identify an actress and posted photos of those whom I thought it could be for comparison.   "What she looked like" was irrelevant; "who she was" was pertinent.

Fortunately, they kept the text of the article almost word-for-word. The Beauty Queen aspect was entirely their idea.

Why would you assume that men would get all "smug". It's No secret that Men are superior chess players. Yeah your ego wouldn't be able to let you not put that part about men getting all "smug". Pathetic.

Apparently, irony isn't your forte.

The 'smug' part was uncalled for-I would just relay the facts, and/or your opinion. I try not to assume my readers are 'smug', etc...but that's just my two big, shiny, knuckle-flippin' centavos.

Great article and amazing photos, <Batgirl>

With more than a dash of welcome irony on page 3...
