Live Chess is fixed? Yah right..

Agreed . . . it was really nice playing live chess under the "old" format. And, no disrespect to the team at chess.com  . . . They DID send out e-mails saying that our archived games would be erased and could be downloaded by us if we wanted them but they NEVER said anything about our ratings being rounded DOWN to the nearest 100 nor did they say that our ratings would be changed as well. Further, the seek area displays many fewer games to look at a glance. The previous seek window was adjustable to a larger size without the need to constantly scroll down to find a game. AND, the game board area was movable and the "new" one is not. Many of us sit for long periods of time playing and were able to position the board for our neck, shoulder and eye comfort. I know that the effort is noble but the results are lacking thus far.

I'm optimistic about them fixing it. But you're right, its about as bad as it gets at the moment.

jk - but seriously that's the story i've been getting from live chess. and I have good internet and pc and all - so right now it's kinda frustrating.

Yeah, I guess this is sort of an interim live chess for the real thing that will be coming out soon? But how long is that going to take? weeks? months?

i cant even get in to it either....

I shared an 8 gig line between two people.  No droppages, nothing.  Internet works seemlessly 24/7.  I've seen it go out maybe twice in a month now, and that was very late night, and most likely the ISP.  I think our DL is something like 5.6 mb/s usually.. upload over a 1mb.

Ok I hope it works out soon.  I have to admit though it is kinda funny that I can't get into live, when it says that there are over 3300 players currently in there ^^

I like the design overall, the cleanliness of it, that we can make the board gigantisized especially, and that we can/will be able to reconnect, but I agree it would be nice if we could expand the seeks column (and that graph that was available as an alternative in old live was very cool!) instead of having to scroll down it.. I think the old seeks column was way better and easier on the eyes.

Good Lord...people and there sacred points and won/loss record.  Its a new version of live chess there will be bugs.  And if you dont believe in that then NEVER use microsoft products.  And the worst thing of all is you couldnt even send the guys a email letting them know of the issue.  Its a "dramatic" post on how YOU lost.  You didnt even come across concerned about an issue on this site, it was all about how YOU suffered a loss. 

They removed the ability to:

have private chats

play more than one game at once

browse all games in progress 

watch games of people who aren't currently active in chat or on your friends list (strong players who seldom chat, for example)

resize windows

monitor the global chat and in-game chat at the same time

play a game while observing another game

other bugs:

White always on bottom no longer works (personally, I'd prefer a flip board option, I always like to play from the opposite side... but whatever)

I've lost points when the server shut down, so I don't know what they're talking about DC's no longer causing loss of pts.

Players are no longer notified when observers view your game.

Insane lag and stupid downtime.

Although I am not a paying member, I'd been seriously considering becoming one because of the features outside of live... no longer am I considering it.  I'm gunna try out chesscube for a while.

I guess those connections problems are still unsolved?
