sounds to me like we're talking about two different problems...
live chess problem, chat field tiny...
polydiatonic,
I tested this on my mac using both Safari and Firefox.
I was able to replicate so my screen looked exactly like yours by either dragging the line above game chat upward then using the keys Fn, cmd, - to zoom, or just by
using the keys Fn, cmd, - to zoom.
Using zoom on live chess can mess with the page layout you see. If you do zoom, try counting how many times you press the - key so you know how many to go back with on the + key. (even once going back on the zoom would correct the view for you).
Can you try that for me please and let me know if it fixes it for you or if you're still having problems.

in live chess now and it's not working...I've tried dragging the field around but can't make it do anything...
Okay, so I think I've gotten to the bottem of it. It seems that when I was first setting up firefox some years ago I changed my default font from what ever it was to "22". I went in to preferences in FF and changed it to "14" and that seems to have dealt with my problem. Now I just need to buy reading glasses.
This is how it should look http://grab.by/9Cow
Now if i use Fn , cmd and the - symbol to zoom, this is what happens
note the voice has moved from right to left and by zooming, its messed up the chat text entry line
Try using fn cmd and + to return it to what its supposed to look like
On this one
http://grab.by/9Cp9 you see the horizontal line just above where it says 'game over', put your cursor on that line. Your cursor will change, this then means you can drag that chatline upward, this gives you more view in the game chat of whats being said rather than just seeing a couple of lines in there.
So, I've posted about this before and have never had any luck with this, but after months of messing around with the current version of live chess I've discovered that I can chat in my own game in live chess. That is, if I'm willing to not be able to see what I'm typing as I "talk". I'm pos
ggested and have had no luck in adjusting anything to make the "field" larger so that I canb see what I've typed.
If you'll look at the bottem left corner of the jpg you'll see "Done", "START" and "GAME ANALYSIS". My problem is that the chat field for entering chat is that teeny tiny narrow space inbetween "Start" and "GAME". I can, with difficulty, get my cursor into that field and chat, but I can't see what I've typed and I also can't tell if I'm realy in the field or not until I've hit "enter". It really sort of sucks. Any help in figuring this out would be appreciated. I've been wrestling with this in one form or another for about a year.

Running current version of Firefox. The problem is even worse in SAFARI.
