live chess virus? Causing screen blackout

In the middle of my game,(3 minute chess),a blackout appears

in a random spot and then spreads over the entire screen, making me lose many games on time,my brother is on the same computer with another account and does not have this problem;what should I do?

Interesting. When you get this blackout, how do you recover from it? Does it go away on its own, or do you have to do something to get back to normal?

Also, does your brother log into your computer with a different Windows (or other OS) user name, or does he use the same Windows user name as you?

That's weird. Check your power cord. What kind of computer is it? Is it actually black, or does it say "connection interrupted reconnecting"? That happens to me sometimes. Are you accidentally hitting something when it blacks out?

Also, what's your brother's username?

I usually have to get back to normal and he uses the same windows, it's actually black and i'm not hitting anything,Blitz_it

Ha ha, I guess I wasn't specific enough with my first question - WHAT do you do to get back to normal?

And concerning my second question, you didn't really anwer it. I'm trying to determine whether you and your brother use the same Windows user name when you use the computer, or if you log into Windows with a different user name as your brother.

Never happened to me.

Is this poetic?

I click new tab at the top of the screen and click chess.com and log back in to live chess,we use the username

Nobody else's screen is going black when this happens to YOU. Sounds like you have a virus, not the site.

that's what me and my brother thought

Bring your computer to the Doctor.   Good Luck.

I'm also leaning toward thinking there's some malware on your PC, but the only thing that doesn't make sense is that it doesn't happen to your brother.  If you two were logging in under different Windows user names, then I'd say there might be some browser addon that's causing the problem. But at the moment I'm not sure what the problem might be. (You two don't happen to use different browsers, do you?)

no we dont

That's not how a virus works, it's something besides malware. Just for the sake of a complete response, I will say that it is possible (odds are astronomical) that someone wrote a virus designed specifically for you specifically for your computer specifically for your account.

I don't know the answer to your problem.

What operating system, browser and browser version do you have?

This issue doesn't seem possible.

Well then, I'm baffled. The only thing that would explain everything is that it's also happening to your brother, but he's denying it. Is your brother honest, or is he a liar? Laughing

I guess if you have to do something, I'd start checking for malware/viruses. The first step would be to run your antivirus program and also download and run Malwarebytes if you don't already have it. (Only download it from:  http://www.malwarebytes.org/ )

One last question - Which version of Windows do you have?

Avatar of J-grab

honest, Windows 7

The only idea that comes to mind may be a long shot. Maybe it's a targeted popup ad that you get but your brother doesn't, and somehow the popup is causing a blackout instead of seeing the ad.

I'm guessing that you don't have the Adblock Plus browser extension installed in your browser, but you might consider installing it to see if the blackout problem goes away.

Do you have a grudge with another member? Laughing

It might be someone hacking in the computer. I just realized that it might also be related to you being unable to enable chat in an old account.

Check your internet connection. Is it an old computer?
