There's been some research that when it comes to psychological and social experiments that Americans are wierd outliers. I have a suspicion if this was carried out on people from different parts of the world the results would be dramatically different.
Infantile political beliefs are like bad smells.

It's not lonely people play chess.
It's sometimes no company is better than the wrong company when you want to play a game.

Out of the 700 million people in the world who play chess, at least one of them is lonely.
