A couple weeks ago I was shocked to have played a bullet game that was drawn in around 50 moves. I was wondering how far off I was from the most moves played in in a single bullet game. Also who holds the record and how many moves was it? Thank you
50? That's not even close. Here is a 105 move bullet game played by Hikaru Nakamura last month:
Here is another 116 move 1 0 marathon:
and this one was 120 moves:
I would guess that the actual 1 0 record is much closer to 150 moves than 50.
I wasted a fair amount of time doing a google search for this until I realized that Hikaru plays here sometimes and that I have access to those games. (You can go through and check the records of everybody else.)
Since nearly all bullet games are played online, the problem should be solvable. However, the problem is gaining access to query all the various servers where this much time is being wasted. (Perhaps a chess.com staff member will notice this forum and at least run the query for chess.com.)
On a tangentially related subject, here is a 3 0 Nakamura game with 271 moves, featuring a double exchange sacrifice by Hikaru, leading to a locked up position which Rybka finally blunders away with an unforced pawn push on move 174 and later, a clinic on how to mate with 5 bishops:
