Shipping is not a problem.  They use FedEx and if memory serves me correctly (which it rarely does these days Laughing) delivery took about 10 days for the set I got from them.  I just got a little 3" ebony set as a replacement for a truly awful set that came with a folder I bought used off Ebay.  I did a little more polishing on my set with my trusty Dremel tool but it's a great little set for the money.  No experience with their high end sets but I've certainly coveted a few.  Remember if you go with a 4.4" king set you'll need a huge chessboard, probably a 2.5" square.  That's dissuaded me from pulling the trigger on more than a few sets.  I have 2 huge sets already and just can't justify another one.  That doesn't mean you shouldn't buy one of course...

Let me give you a link to a long running thread that mentions ChessBazaar. The only negative comments seemed to come from someone who eventually admitted he was setting up his own business importing chess sets.  Oh, check out Ebay as well.  Both my big sets came from auctions and I got killer deals, but I had to scour the listings for months.

I purchased a luxury set from them ... and it has arrived today.  I second what was stated earlier - Shipping from this company is no problem.

It literally took less than 48 hours from pickup to delivery - from India to centeral Mississippi (although that 48 hours did span three days).   I also had a little fun tracking the package -  as I figured out which FedEx airplane left somma l???  Italy to Memphis TN (FDX 7 - used flight aware site to track the actual flight - yeah, slightly obsessive in tracking this one!)  The order was picked up at the FedEx office in India at 20:08 on Monday.  Arrived at my doorstep Wen at 8:41 am  ... My wife signed for the package.  So, I'm very pleased with shipping time.

Shipping is free (well, it's built into the price anyway).

Now ... I'm still waiting to get off from work to SEE THE SET!  And slightly nervous as I hear some have had wonderful success and love their sets, while others have found the knights non-matching and sub par with junior carvers.   I'm hopeful to fall into the first catagory and will not have to ask to ship replacement pieces (which they advertise that they do if needed on their website).

I'm like a kid at Christmas time ... I can let you know if I am satisified in a later post if you like.

sorry to hear that Teichmann 70.  How long on average, would a wood set last before cracking ?  What would be a short time, what would be a long time ?  Any articles I could read on the subject?  I'm interested.

Just buy a humidifier for the house.  Stringed instrument players are obsessive about humidity levels lest their spruce tops should crack.  If we can keep our old Martins crack free for decades even while under tension, chess sets should be simple.  If you don't want to do the humidifier thing, then at least throw a moistened sponge in the cabinet or drawer you keep your set in.  Oh, how was Christmas morning unwrapping your new present?  Are you happy with it?

Hi baddogno ... So ... I am ecstatic with the sheer beauty of the design of this set, honestly.    I LOVE it !!!   There were three issues, but the biggest one is being corrected.   If you want excruciating details, visit my blog here:  http://www.richimages.net/?p=7113  (skip to the bottom for the actual review of this set)  the article is password protected with the password "arabian" until all the images and final word-smithing is complete.    I also got a bonus set for free as a promotional for ordering over X dollars. Actually, not a bad second set for travel.     Amazed at Shipping - it took a physical 37 hours from time the FedEx office picked up the package up in India, until time it arrived on my door step in Mississippi.   It really was a pleasant experience ... and yes, Christmas came early for me this year !!!

Sweet!  Now go buy yourself a cheap hygrometer and try to keep your levels between 40 and 60%.  Your set will thank you. Laughing

yep ... already have a padded 2 layer coffer for storage ... that should help ... perhaps some desiccant packs in there would also help ... but ...  not overly worried about it ... it will be babied for sure.  :-)

You have your king and queen on the wrong colors, cool set though.
